Oops! Not the Gap!

My Festive Season wish is love, health and happiness for you all, dear Readers, and may all your dreams come true!

But dreams are only that, something that lives in your imagination, unless you take ACTION to make them happen. So I do hope that you will use this time to evaluate where you are at and take the very first of many steps towards making your life everything you want it to be.

Whilst acknowledging that this has not been an easy year for many, a good start is to make a conscious decision to keep your focus away from The Gap and onto what you have instead.

The Gap, is that space between where you are and where you want to be and it is indeed a dangerous place to spend time in. It is filled with feelings of defeat, of not being good enough. With self-limiting beliefs and all the fears you have internalised in your lifetime. The Gap sucks you in. It is a black hole that holds you back and saps the motivation from you. Have I frightened you?

The good news is that you CAN choose not to enter it (or at least exit it quickly) and even reduce its power to where it no longer stands in the way of your success. Here is my recipe for dodging The Gap:

1. Focus on your successes by writing a list of 50 of your achievements. These can be big achievements as well as small wins. Nothing is insignificant, celebrate that merit badge in grade two!

2. Ask yourself how it makes you feel to remember all the great things you have accomplished in your life, which ones you are most proud of and what impact they have had.

3. Then remember that you are the exact same person who achieved all those things and you still have the capacity and potential within you.

4. Choose an affirmation or statement that validates who you are and what you are capable of and use it every time The Gap shows up.

Here is to a wonderfully fulfilling and empowering 2023.
